COURSE OVERVIEW

This Wind Turbine Blade Repair and inspection course is the first stage of blade repair an introduction into composite repair skills and is a prerequisite to attend the four day Basic Blade Repair and Inspection Course. It will give an overview to understanding the five industry adopted fault and repair categories.

DURATION: 1 Day / 5 Days

PRICE: £230 / £1000 plus VAT at current rate

• To provide theoretical knowledge of blade repair and inspection.
• To furnish participants with the practical skills and competence to carry out inspections and repairs associated with Fault Categories 1-2.
The course is aimed at individuals who are new to Blade Repair and Inspection or in entry level roles within the industry, as well as personnel who are looking for a broader understanding of the issues related to blades.

Awareness:

• Wind industry and turbine blades
• Need for wind turbine inspection and repair
• RTN four level repair modules
• UK health and safety legislation and guidelines
• Risk Assessments and method statements
• Correct terms, definitions and abbreviations used
• Explanation of safe handling of materials

Basic Repair:

• Correct terms, definitions and abbreviations used in composites, WTG blades and quality of laminate
• Blade materials, fibres, resins, core materials.
• Blade construction and various blade structures, including reinforcement structure
• Manufacturing process for blades
• Processes involved wet lay up by hand, vacuum consolidation, infusion and pre-inpregnation
• Root causes for damages and defects to blades
• General preventative maintenance principles and recording systems
